Instructions to make Simmered Chicken Wings:
  1. Combine all of the flavoring ingredients together.
  2. Heat a frying pan on medium heat. Pour sesame oil into the frying pan and start to cook the chicken with the skin side facing down.
  3. Once they turn golden brown, flip them over.
  4. Cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat setting to low. Steam fry the chicken. Once about 7-8 are golden brown, remove the lid.
  5. Add the sauce you made in Step 1 and cook it till the sauce cooks down. While it cooks down on a low heat setting, shake the frying pan from time to time. This helps coat the chicken.
  6. Reduce the sauce until it is nearly gone. While doing so, shake the frying pan and move the wings around so that they are evenly coated. Once it's done cooking down, they're ready.
  7. If you don't want to cook the sauce down till it looks like this, that's fine too. This cooks down quite quickly, so be sure to cook it on a low heat setting so it doesn't burn.

Transfer the wings to the prepared baking sheet and arrange in a single layer. Reserve the sauce in the pan. In a small saucepan, whisk together hot sauce and honey. Bring to simmer then stir in butter. Season chicken wings as desired before tossing in ½ of the sauce until coated.

Try Using Food to Improve Your Mood

Most of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must keep away from them. Often, if the comfort food is a high sugar food or some other junk food, this is true. At times, comfort foods can be perfectly nourishing and good for us to consume. There are several foods that, when you eat them, could boost your mood. If you feel a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually terrific at dealing with depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–run better. Try to eat an egg and feel better!

Make a trail mixfrom a variety of seeds and nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you will feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are good if you want to feel better. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression.

Grains can be good for fighting a terrible mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all wonderful for helping you feel better. These foods fill you up better and that can help you with your moods as well. Feeling famished can truly make you feel awful! These grains can help your mood elevate because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. These foods are easier to digest than others which helps promote a rise in your blood sugar which in turn brings up your mood to a happier place.

Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea has been found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this specific amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This helps improve your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You probably already knew it is not difficult to be healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know it can help improve your mood as well!

So you see, you don’t need to consume all that junk food when you are wanting to feel better! Try some of these tips instead.
