Try Using Food to Boost Your Mood

Mostly, people have been conditioned to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and should be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this can be true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super nourishing and good for you. There are a number of foods that basically can raise your moods when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, you may be astonished to find out, are terrific at battling depression. Just see to it that you don’t toss out the yolk. The yolk is the most essential part of the egg in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolk in particular, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for raising your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that affect your mood. Try consuming some eggs to cheer up!

Put together a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Nuts, on top of elevating your mood, can be a great protein source.

Cold water fish are great for eating if you want to combat depression. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly raise your mood.

Some grains are really wonderful for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really great for helping raise your happiness levels. These grains fill you up better and that can help you with your moods too. It’s not hard to feel depressed when you feel famished! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest. You digest these foods faster than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Green tea is truly great for your mood. You were just expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you know it can help you be happier too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you wish to help your moods get better. Try a couple of of these hints instead.
